For a minute we were all scratching our heads wondering when the Freshmen cover would arrive, but our thoughts were sedated today as the magazine cover was finally revealed. With the cover comes a lot of debate about who was chosen and who wasn't, and this year is no different. We're definitely curious how Kidd Kidd somehow nabbed the fan-voted 10th spot...but we'll save that for another post. Nonetheless, some of our own pitches for XXL Freshmen came true, while others, such as Mick Jenkins, Lil Herb and Tory Lanez are being echoed not only in the comments on HNHH but across the web.
For those who want further clarification on this year's process, XXL sat down with The Breakfast Club to discuss this year's cover. Among the interesting points of the conversation, Vanessa Satten says that PartyNextDoor and ILoveMakonnen did not express a lot of interest in being a Freshmen and therefore were not pursued further.
