Cardi takes the VMAs.

Cardi B's hot streak shows no signs of letting up.

Sunday evening (August 27), moments before the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Ed Sheeran took to the stage, the reality television star-turned-Hip-Hop sensation Cardi B took to the MTV Video Music Awards pre-show to deliver on a performance of her breakout track "Bodak Yellow."

Currently basking in the stardom that comes with a song that's peaked at No. 3 so far on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Cardi took to the big stage to gift us with an appearance that's been years in the making

The Bronx-bred femcee has experienced a Cinderella story that's too hard to hate on, and for those who hate anyways, she's practically unbothered if Sunday night's performance was any indication.

Following her departure from Love & Hip-Hop, she's gone on to create her own lane with the success of her Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 2, and even making history as the highest-charting solo female rapper on the Hot 100 since Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda."

"A lot of people didn't think I was going to make it. It was a big challenege because I'm a funny person and I was on reality TV. I had to prove myself constantly Like 'Alright, I'm a funny person, but I take my music serious,' and now it's just like I'm here," Cardi told Billboard Sunday evening while at the VMAs. "How much more can I prove it? I'm number three on Billboard. If I hit number one--I just need to hit number one for one week and I'll be okay.

"Bodak Yellow" has since been followed up with a Latin Trap remix, featuring Messiah in which Cardi blends both English and Spanish for a remix that pays the ultimate homage to her upbringing.
