Good news, y’all. We no longer have to write about Weeknd tracks that have been pulled. This past week was a tumultuous one at the top of our Top 100 charts, with dead tracks and other hangers-on being flushed out in a wave of new Weezy music.
Let’s get to it.
10) Turk ft. Lil Wayne – You Mad Yet? (Remix)
I don’t know if you’re mad yet, but Weezy clearly is. The last several weeks have brought us several tracks that feature Lil Wayne rapping like his hair is on fire (which we needed after this). It doesn’t get much better than this partial Hot Boy reunion where Turk stands tall against his former crewmate.
Get It How U Live! nostalgia pushed this track to #10 in its first week on the charts.
9) Migos – Conversation
Migos got syrupy and slow on their latest track. According to reader reaction, however, they need to turn back up. This Free Offset, Skippa Da Flippa & Rich The Kid leak received a lukewarm reaction from the HNHH hoards, but interest was enough to push it up 9 positions to the #9 spot in its second week on the Top 100.
8) Travi$ Scott & Young Thug – Drunk
Oddballs Travi$ Scott and Young Thug come with a built in set of haters, who trash every new release from the strange, young rappers re-shaping the genre in their own drugged-out image. Nonetheless, this low-key track, likely an unfinished leak, debuted at #8.
7) Meek Mill – Check
Meek is just about the only track to hold on to a Top 10 spot this week. “Check” fell five spots to land in its current position, at #7.
6) K Camp – Comfortable
K Camp follows up Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” with the world’s second wedding-core rap song. If you can’t see old men in suits shuffling to this smooth production six months from now, you aren’t thinking hard enough.
Seriously though, this production is something else. And will likely see a ton of airplay as the weather heats up. As for right now, it was good enough to land at #6 in its first week on the charts.
5) T-Pain ft. Juicy J – Make That Shit Work
We may have given Juicy J too much leeway. After “Tryna Fuck” was a minor hit on the charts, J has set himself on a path where all future tracks will feature swear words in the title and be as crass as humanly possible. We’re personally looking forward to the day J runs out of swears and starts inventing his own.
Also, T-Pain is back, guys. And he’s excellent.
This track landed at #5 in its first week on the chart.
4) Lil Wayne – Hot Boy (Freestyle)
Weezy managed to one up an actual Hot Boy collaboration with freestyle over a track named after his former group.
This Appreciation 8 track came in at #4 in its first week on the charts.
3) Lil Bibby – You Ain’t Dead (Remix)
Just because the child-king who put the city on the map has been noticeably silent, doesn’t mean that Chiraq is dead.
Lil Bibby proved more than willing to pick up the slack with his newest track, which quickly climbed the charts to #3 in its first week.
2) The Weeknd – Can’t Feel My Face
This track has charted previously in an unofficial context, but this is the first week that the CDQ of The Weeknd’s Max Martin collaboration has made it on the charts.
This is the first song that The Weeknd has ever written that didn’t sound like an R&B song as envisioned by Portishead run through a barrage of sedatives. Maybe Abel’s found himself a nice lady, maybe he just really wants that Top 40 $$$. Who knows? No matter, it made a strong debut on our Top 100 at #2.
