<p>A new documentary series centered around producer and executive <a href="/profile/rick-rubin" class="text-word" target="_blank" >Rick Rubin</a> is scheduled to premiere on the Showtime network later this year. The documentary is set to be directed by Morgan Neville, known for his work on the Oscar-winning <em>20 Feet From Stardom</em> film and the Emmy award-winning documentary <em>Best of Enemies.</em></p>
<p>Currently, the film is being developed under the working title <em>Shangri-La</em>, named after Rubin&#8217;s creative compound and recording studio in Malibu. Newsday reports that the film will serve as  &#8220;an all-access pass into Rubin’s creative process, giving viewers a taste of what it’s like to be produced by the music world’s most singular voice.&#8221;</p>

<p>The film is set to debut with a &#8220;work-in-progress&#8221; cut at the SXSW Festival and Conference in Austin in March. Executive producers on the project include Rubin and Neville, along with Jeff Malmberg, Danny Breen, Michael Goldberg, Eric Lynn, Isaac Heymann, Dianna Schmederman and Jason Schrift</p>
<p>The doc is set to san Rubin&#8217;s career, from his beginnings in co-founding Def Jam Records as a student at New York University in 1984 to his role launching the career&#8217;s of <a href="/profile/LLCoolJ" class="text-word" target="_blank" >LL Cool J</a>, RUN-DMC, Beastie Boys and Public Enemy.
