Khalid

Khalid talks Billie Eilish, J. Cole, Ed Sheeran, and more.

With Free Spirt on the way, Khalid took to Beats 1 for an extensive interview. Speaking with Zane Lowe, the singer opened up about his dream collaboration, Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran, and more. On Eilish, Khalid gushes about the young singer, dubbing her a rockstar and praising her courage. "The fact that she's so young and growing up in front of everyone's eyes, she was younger than me when she started," he explains. "The fact that she's growing up and she's daring enough to be like I'm going to do what I want to do and I don't care, I'm fearless."

When asked about a dream collaboration, Khalid reflects on wanting some of that J. Cole feature magic. "I would love that. I haven't met him," explains the young singer, who appears to have the whole meeting already mapped out. "I love just how you can literally picture and imagine everything that he's saying as if you were there in that moment, and his storytelling is really, really, really amazing. So, that could be cool for that. I don't know. Maybe that happens. Maybe we'll send it over, fly it over to him."

While a Cole collaboration may remain a pipe-dream for the time being, it seems likely that Khalid is sitting on a collaboration with Ed Sheeran. At least, that's what Zane Lowe seems to think. Upon asking Khalid about the potential Sheeran duet, Khalid opts to play things close to the chest: "I don't want to say too much about it." He does, however, hit Zane with a wink, which does not go unnoticed. Barring a coincidental moment of involuntary eye movement, it's entirely possible that Khalid's upcoming Free Spirit project will include an Ed Sheeran-assisted single.
