The weeks leading up to 21 Savage's album release have been confusing. We were almost certain that the project would be appearing on December 7 but, as we all know now, it failed to be uploaded until today. I Am > I Was is officially out and early reactions have been overwhelmingly positive. Fans are happy that the Atlanta rapper has made such a triumphant return, clearly missing him during his absence. The opening song from 21's new project features J. Cole on "A Lot" as he continues his feature-spree, delivering another solid effort. Some were surprised to hear the rapper reference a few of the hottest topics in his verse, including Markelle Fultz' shooting stroke and Tekashi 6ix9ine's arrest.

On the Philadelphia 76er, Cole raps, "I pray for Markelle 'cause they fucked up his shot/Just want you to know that you got it, my n***a." When he speaks on 6ix9ine, Cole is empathetic about the rainbow-haired Brooklyn rapper, pondering on what he must be thinking at this point. "Pray for Tekashi, they want him to rot/I picture him inside a cell on a cot/’Flectin' on how he made it to the top/Wondering if it was worth it or not."
It's quite the way to start off the album, beginning things with a bang as features from Post Malone, Offset, Gunna, and Lil Baby come later in the tracklist. Check out the song below.
