Kanye West has responded to the fake news story that was circulating, which stated that Kanye thought he was "the next Nelson Mandela."

Nelson Mandela passed away last week at the old age of 95. Rappers and celebrities reacted to the news immediately, often through Twitter, expressing their sorrow at Mandela's passing. However, it was being reported by certain outlets that Kanye West had quite the controversial remarks to say about the great leader. This news that circulated (not on HotNewHipHop, mind you) was fake, having been initially reported by The Currant, a site calling itself "The Global Satirical Newspaper of Record."

The alleged news was basically saying that 'Ye was calling himself the "next Nelson Mandela," and trivializing all the remarkable things that Mandela has done in his lifetime. While Yeezy is known to say some outrageous things, we can't really picture him blasting Nelson Mandela like that, although many news outlets ended picking up the fake news story.

Now Kanye himself has responded to the piece of satire, and defended his love for Mandela on Twitter. He tweeted, "Despite recent media reports, I've never said anything to dishonor or trivialize the life or transition of one of the most inspiring leaders."
