The RIAA takes a moment to pay homage some of the game's brilliant black artists.

The process of going Platinum has changed, but the prestige has yet to dwindle. Not even as traditional albums seem to disappear from the equation entirely. With streaming at an all-time high, some have even wondered whether going platinum still holds the same weight. While it's certainly debatable, the fact remains that going platinum is one of the most noteworthy sales milestones an artist can reach. As it happens, rappers have been hitting that very milestone for decades now, and the RIAA has taken a moment to celebrate accordingly.

In honor of Black History Month, the list centers around black artists, and their dominant contributions to the culture. Names like Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Drake, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Wiz Khalifa, Ja Rule, 50 Cent, 2Pac, Biggie, Snoop Dogg, T.I, Ludacris, N.W.A., Ice Cube, Big Sean, and more are given a shout out for their work. Check out the full list via the Tweet above, and respect to all the chosen artists for their contributions.
