Visitors look a 'Bumblebee' transformer robot on first opening day of the China Luoyang International Robot and Intelligent Equipment Exhibition on May 9, 2016 in Luoyang, Henan Province of China. The exhibition which will last three days attracted some 200 robot and intelligent equipment manufacturers from more than 10 countries and regions.

This may be a good look for the "Transformers" franchise.

Paramount must have realized that audiences were getting Transformers fatigue. The first film in the franchise starred Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Tyrese, and Josh Duhamel. It was directed by Michael Bay, and featured a heartfelt story about a fish-out-of-water boy who meets an equally displaced Bumblebee. The moments of emotion and comedy were soon replaced by more and more action scenes, until we reached the Mark Wahlberg starring Transformer flicks. Now, Paramount is taking a step back to focus on what made the first movie so good, the relationship between Bumblee and his human friends.

The upcoming Bumblebee movie looks much better than anything we've seen from the franchise in years. The film takes place in the 80's, and focuses on Bumblebee's first major adventure on Earth. Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena star in the flick, with that latter poised to play a villain. In a new trailer that was released for Bumblebee, Optimus Prime makes a quick appearance via hologram, and his 80's look is on full display. "You must protect Earth," commands Prime to Bumblebee. The trailer also hints at the plot, which appears to focus on Decepticons deceiving the US government into believing that Bumblee is an enemy of the planet. Bumblebee hits theaters on December 21.
