"Game of Thrones" still climbs to the top without any new episodes.

The power of Game of Thrones goes way beyond the happenings in the series and the worlds of Westeros, Essos, and Sothoryos. According to USA Today, despite the fact that the HBO series has not released a new episode in 16 months the show has become 2018's most streamed show on Comcast.

This means that most of the network's 22 million-plus subscribers have all been tuned into Game of Thrones seemingly getting caught up for the upcoming season eight or just re-watching favourite moments. "The fact that that show is still ranked No. 1 across the board when it wasn't even current is pretty incredible. It shows just how large of a following that show has (and) how new people are still discovering it,"  Brynn Lev, VP of editorial and programming at Comcast Cable said.

The top five shows also include NBC's This Is Us, Starz's Power, Fox's 9-1-1 and ABC's The Good Doctor.

Season eight of Game of Thrones arrives April 2019 and the recent trailer (seen below) anticipates a battle between fire and ice. "It’s about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death,” co-executive producer Bryan Cogman said of the season. “It’s an incredibly emotional haunting bittersweet final season and I think it honors very much what [author George R.R. Martin] set out to do — which is flipping this kind of story on its head.”
