"Maniac" looks like a mind-bending good time.

Emma Stone and Jonah Hill created movie magic in the coming-of-age comedy Superbad eleven years ago. After enjoying a decade of successful work, both Stone and Hill are reuniting for a new Netflix series entitled Maniac. Earlier this year, Netflix teased the series as a psychedelic comedy. The series is based on a 2014 Norwegian series of the same name by Hakon Bast Mossige and Espen PA Lervaag, and will premier with ten episodes on September 21. The plot follows Annie Landsberg (Stone) and Owen Milgrim (Hill), two strangers who submit themselves to medical drug testing. The procedure goes wrong though, and Stone and Hill will embark on what looks like a trippy adventure that is being billed as a dark comedy.

The first trailer for Maniac was released this past weekend, and its brevity still allows just enough time for viewers to get lost in a colorful montage of madness. "Once you begin to appreciate the structure of the mind, there is no reason to believe that anything about us can't be changed," states a narrator as Hill and Stone sit across from each other in silence in a white room. The colors change and scenes are chopped up to reveal absolutely nothing. It looks like we'll have to wait until Maniac premiers in September to get a better look at where the plot is heading.
