Today marks the seven year anniversary since Drake released his sophomore album, Take Care. The album is argued as Drake's best body of work to date, which isn't to discredit the rest of his discography, but he hasn't released a more cohesive project that Take Care. The album -- which produced hits like "Headlines," "Take Care," "Crew Love" & more -- has now spent 169 weeks on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop album chart, passing J. Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive for second-most amount of weeks on the chart.
Kenny G's Breathless is the only album standing in Drake's way from breaking another record on the Billboard charts. As Take Care clocks in its 169th week on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart, it passes J. Cole's third studio time for the second-most amount of weeks on the chart. 2014 Forest Hills Drive has logged in 168 weeks on the chart at this point, making it the album with the third-most amount of weeks on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart.
Since the release of both albums, Billboard's switched up chart tabulation to include streaming. Both albums have benefitted from the change of algorithms. Streaming numbers for Drake's Take Care and J. Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive have helped both albums re-chart after extended absences. In 2018, Cole's Drive clocked in 27 weeks while Take Care has spent every week on the chart this year. If Drake continues on this streak, he could hit the all-time mark by the first half of 2019.
