Now we want to hear the studio version.

You may remember a Hot 97 interview from 2016 where Lil Uzi Vert refused to freestyle over a DJ Premier beat. A certain faction of hip-hop heads took offense to Uzi's dismissal of the boom bap beat suggested by Ebro, but it really came down to style. "You know how I rap," he said. Looking at Uzi's output now, it's clear that a Primo beat isn't exactly the right way to compliment his sound.

In a new freestyle video posted today, Uzi shows us exactly the type of freestyle setting he prefers. Rapping over a beat filled with color and melody, Uzi drops an off-the-dome freestyle in a room surrounded by friends and complete with some dance moves only he could pull off.

No word on who produced the instrumental, but we wouldn't mind hearing a studio version of this track on Uzi's upcoming album, whenever that may be released. In July, Uzi announced a new project called Eternal Atake, which, at the time, seemed like it may be released imminently. However, we have received no updates since.

Uzi last full-length project was Luv Is Rage 2, which was released last August. In November, he shared a deluxe version of the album which featured four bonus tracks. Just today, he was featured on "It's A Slime" from Young Thug's newly released Slime Language compilation. Stay tuned for news on his upcoming project.
