Kid Cudi & Kanye West narrowly miss the top spot.

While Kanye West and Kid Cudi's KIDS SEE GHOSTS partnership was highly anticipated and warmly received, it seems that still wasn't enough to defeat the mighty goliath known as Dave Matthews Band.

The most recent update to the Billboard 200 chart finds KIDS SEE GHOSTS landing firmly at number two on the chart, just narrowly missing the top spot and solidifying it's place as Kanye West's 9th number one album. The album clocked a respectable 142k units sold, with 79k being pure album sales. However, that wasn't remotely close enough to hit the top spot, as Dave Matthews Band's Come Tomorrow took the crown decisively with 292k sales in the first week.

KIDS SEE GHOSTS debuting in the top of the charts does mark a return to form for Kid Cudi. He's been unable to crack the top ten of the chart since 2014's Satellite Flight: The Journey To Mother Moon, and the number two debut ties for his highest charting album of his career, only matching 2013's Indicud

The album's sales do represent a significant downgrade from the previous week's Ye, which sold 208k to debut solidly at the number one spot on the chart. Ye finds itself falling to number five on the Billboard 200 chart, after selling only 74k album equivalents, a 65% decrease from its first week. The album has proven polarizing among Kanye fans, and its possible that those who weren't impressed upon the first listens haven't bothered to return.

Next week will reveal whether NasNasir album will continue G.O.O.D. Music's summer success streak.
