Ella Mai is eyeing a new record.

Earlier in the year, Ella Mai logged a total of 16 weeks at the top of the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart for her smash "Boo'd Up" track. Three weeks ago she was unseated at the throne, but she wastes no time in returning to the top spot once more as her "Trip" single has risen the ranks to No.1, giving the singer a total of 17 weeks at the top spot this year.

This week, the track experienced a gain of six percent, heard by an audience of 29.7 million listeners according to Nielsen Music. It signals the best showing on the chart by a woman since Alicia Keys earned 17 weeks in 2004 with "You Don't Know My Name," which stayed at No. 1 for seven weeks, "If I Aint Got You," which earned six weeks, and the Usher duet "My Boo" (four weeks).

The best showing of all time is only one week out with Ashanti, who dominated No. 1 for 18 weeks in 2002 for her role on Ja Rule's "Always On Time" and her own "Foolish" with both cuts earning nine weeks apiece. With the way that the "Trip" wave is set up, though, it's likely that Mai will match Ashanti's numbers with ease.

This new feat also marks the first time an album by a woman produces two No. 1 tracks on the chart dance Rihana's ANTI did so in 2016. That year she earned the distinction with "Work" and "Needed Me."
