Kanye wasn't stumped, he was cut off.

Kanye West stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week, and gave one of his more calm and concise interviews of late. During the interview, Kimmel and West touched on a number of topics, including fashion, music, married life, and of course, Donald Trump. Kanye has been in support of Trump for two years now, but journalists continue to press the topic like it's new information. No doubt, ratings play a huge part in the media's continued curiosity with West's political affiliations.

At one point, Kanye described a very altruistic (and somewhat naive) view of the nation. "Love can cure so much," West stated. "Am I moving in love? Not out of pride. Pride is often a word that people say in a positive connotation, but it's actually one of the seven deadly sins. And it takes too much ownership, but you can replace pride with love. When I see people even, like,  go at the president, it's like... why not try love? For one person to stand up against all odds, and just hug somebody... We can diffuse this nuclear bomb of hate that we're in as a society by thinking of everyone as our family." Kimmel, who was prepared for this response, hit Kanye back with a deeper question.

"You so famously, and so powerfully, said George Bush doesn't care about black people," started Kimmel. "It makes me wonder, what makes you think that Donald Trump does, or any people at all?" Kanye stops for a moment and thinks about his answer before Kimmel announces that they would be cutting to commercial break. When the show returned, Kimmel and Kanye were on a completely different subject, which made it appear as if Mr. West was stumped by the question. Several media outlets have been reporting that Kimmel was able to outsmart West, leaving him speechless. Obviously, those outlets don't understand that speechless is the literal opposite of Kanye West. Mr. West took to Twitter on Saturday (Aug. 11) to respond to the critics who claimed the outspoken rapper had been defeated in a debate.

"On Jimmy Kimmel we had a great time having a dialogue. I’m reading that I was stumped by a question," West tweeted. "Let me clarify the click bait. I wasn’t stumped. I wasn’t given a chance to answer the question. The question was so important I took time to think. And then I was hit with the let’s go to commercial break. That interview showed strong personalities with different opinions having a civil conversation." Although his views may be polarizing, it's obvious after watching the interview that West is telling the truth. We are all left to wonder why Kimmel and his staff didn't let Kanye answer the question, and instead opted to edit the interview to make it look like Kanye was stumped.
