Geoffrey Owens is getting all kinds of love ever since he was wrongfully work shamed after a woman snapped a photo of him working at Trader Joe's. Since the debacle, the former Cosby Show actor has landed an acting gig thanks to Tyler Perry and now Nicki Minaj has come through with $25,000 to give to Geoffrey on behalf of Queen Radio.
"Some people are on the internet and seeking attention, and he’s just the antithesis of that. So I felt like, 'Oh my God, could you imagine?'" Nicki told Entertainment Tonight when explaining why she made the generous move. "We all have done jobs like that and I just thought, what if that were me? Or a family member and they were minding their own business, working to feed their family and somebody tried to humiliate them? I don’t like the way that feels."
She added: "Tell him that I’m going to have my team contact him because I hope he doesn’t take it the wrong way. I just want to help him in any way I can."
The woman who took the viral photo, Karma Lawrence, recently spoke out saying she regretted it. “I don’t know why I snuck a picture,” the 50-year-old said. “I figured everybody does it. I don’t know what possessed me. I just did it. I didn’t even think about it. I just kind of did it on impulse and it was a bad impulse.”
