Duane "Keefe D" Davis had a long road leading up to his conviction and sentencing for the murder of Tupac Shakur, whether it's his admissions to organizing the crime or his later denial of those confessions being truthful. The case came to a head this year and resulted in a life prison sentence with a possibility of parole after 40 years. We now have more information on where Davis will serve this term.
As reported by 8 News Now in Las Vegas, authorities transferred him from a downtown prison in the city to Nevada's jail system. Specifically, Keefe D is now at the maximum-security High Desert State Prison, according to the state's Department of Corrections. According to a spokesperson, the prison transfer took place last week on Thursday, October 22.
High Desert State Prison reportedly houses "the state’s death row population, High Risk Potential offenders, and all other classifications requiring the highest level of supervision," according to the Nevada Department of Corrections. As for Davis' incarceration, he reportedly received credit for time he already served in jail, totaling 731 days. He and his lawyer Michael Sanft reportedly plan to file an appeal to attempt to overturn his conviction and get him free.
Keefe D's Sentencing
Keefe D's statement before the Tupac sentencing made those appeal plans very clear. We will see if those attempts are successful or if he will serve 40 years to life for the murder of the iconic rapper.
Elsewhere, other rumors surrounding Keefe D continue to put the Tupac murder into question, even if Keefe himself has denied many of them. One of the most persistent conspiracies around Shakur's death is the alleged involvement of Diddy, which both the Bad Boy mogul and Davis have denied.
Still, infamous Puff troll 50 Cent posited that federal authorities might go after Sean Combs for the crime following Davis' sentence. It seems unlikely, but this whole case has been a shocker for many.
We will see if we hear more updates from Keefe D in High Desert State Prison. There weren't any specific reasons given for the transfer, so we will have to wait if more information emerges.
