Keefe D is back in court today as he will be officially sentenced for the killing of hip-hop legend and icon, Tupac Shakur.

Just a few weeks ago, Duane "Keefe D" Davis was convicted of the murder of Tupac Shakur. Although he was not convicted of pulling the trigger, he was convicted of orchestrating the hit. At 63 years old, Keefe D was facing a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Moments ago, Keefe D was officially sentenced for his role in Tupac's murder. Davis is going to prison for 40 years to life. He was sentenced to 20 years to life for the first-degree murder charge. Subsequently, he received 20 years to life for the deadly weapon enhancement. These sentences are to run consecutively, which means Keefe D is facing a total of 40 years to life in prison.

Judge Carli Kierny made it clear that this sentencing was 30 years in the making, and that the court was not going to go easy on him. She also noted that Keefe D had already served upwards of 731 days. However, given his age and the length of the sentence, this won't have much bearing on him getting out of prison any sooner.

Keefe D Sentenced For Tupac Murder

Prior to the sentencing, Keefe D and his attorney made it clear that they will be looking to appeal the conviction. This will take place at a later date. For now, the conviction still stands, and Keefe D's official sentence begins now.

Moments before the sentencing, Tupac's family delivered impact statements. Sekyiwa Shakur was visibly emotional as she explained how much her brother meant to her. Maurice "Mopreme" Shakur, the stepbrother of Tupac, also gave a statement in which he asked for the maximum sentence.

This remains a developing story.
