Funk Flex went viral on Tuesday night after an alleged altercation at the New York Knicks' home opener against the Philadelphia 76ers. In a video posted to social media, Flex could be seen engaging in a fight with Shadow Stokes, who is the husband of former Hot 97 host, TT Torrez.
Following the altercation, Torrez released a statement claiming that she has been harassed by Flex for years. Furthermore, she alleged that Flex shoved her violently during the brawl.
Last night, Flex took to his radio show on Hot 97 and told his side of the story. He says that Stokes continued to taunt him, saying, “Hit me first, so I can sue you." Flex then referenced a case the couple has against the station, and how if he hit Stokes, there could have been severe monetary consequences.
“I work for MediaCo./Hot 97 and they have a case against Hot 97,” Funk Flex said. “If I would have touched him in any way or form, I’m a MediaCo. employee and they would’ve filed their papers that I was hitting him on behalf of the company for a big payout.”
Funk Flex Tells His Story
Flex went on to say that his goal was to taunt Stokes as much as possible. He eventually told the music executive that he and his wife were never coming back to the station. Flex believes this is what escalated tensions.
“You know what I said to him after that, that really sent him over the top,” he said. “Y’all are out, never to return. Never to come back in. Y’all… are out. I don’t know what they’re talking about pushing, but that’s what sent him over the edge.”
However, Flex ended his account by saying that despite everything, he still believes that Stokes and Torrez are good people.
“I’ve known those two for a long time,” Flex stated. “They’re actually good people, but they’ve let that music industry and that greed turn them into different people.”
Following the altercation, Funk Flex was hit with a ban from Madison Square Garden. Although that appears to have been waived, and he is now allowed back in.
