Some rough news out of Philadelphia this morning as Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been diagnosed with multiple blood clots in his lungs. This diagnosis comes just a week after Hurts was diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in his calf.
According to reports, Hurts played with this blood clot during the team's London game against the Jacksonville Jaguars two Sundays ago. However, he was ruled out against the Carolina Panthers over the weekend.
It was believed that the blood clots were only in his leg. That said, the discovery of more in his lungs is truly horrifying. Now, he must go through rigorous testing and treatment in order to fix the issue. This includes blood thinners and numerous imaging tests to track progress.
Additionally, according to Adam Schefter, it has been revealed that Hurts is officially out for the season.
A Scary Injury For Jalen Hurts
If you are a football fan, you can't help but be put off by this report. Mostly due to the fact that the Eagles let Hurts play with this injury, despite being told not to sleep as a precaution.
The Philadelphia Eagles will be scrutinized by reporters this week, and for very good reason. They put Hurts' health at risk, and it could have gone very badly. A pulmonary embolism is life-threatening if not treated. They can also come out of nowhere, with minimal symptoms to alert you that there is something wrong.
Our thoughts go out to Jalen Hurts during this difficult time. Another reminder that some things are bigger than football.
