A new Air Jordan 9 is on the way for 2027, and it has a very different story than first reported. The Air Jordan 9 "Super Freak" is expected on February 13th for $215.
Earlier reports said the pair would be Randy Moss' Minnesota Vikings player exclusive. Now it looks like the design pulls from his first signature shoe instead. That shoe is the Air Jordan Super Freak from 2000.
It also borrows from the Jordan Cover 3, the 2010 version of that shoe. The new photos show a clean color mix. White leather covers most of the upper, with black suede along the lower sides. Purple shows up on the midsole and lining.
A white Jumpman sits on the purple midsole. On the tongue ribbon, "Twenty 3" appears in place of the usual "Air Jordan" text. That detail is a direct nod to the original Super Freak. The style code is JK1415-100. Pairs are expected through SNKRS and select Jordan Brand retailers. Sizing details have not been shared yet.
The date is the big hook. February 13th falls one day before the Super Bowl, and the game takes place in Los Angeles. Overall, the shoe looks simple but sharp. It is a very easy pair to wear well beyond football season.
Air Jordan 9 "Super Freak"
Randy Moss has a special place in Jordan Brand history. In 1999, he became the first football player to sign with the brand, joining Derek Jeter and Roy Jones Jr.
His first signature shoe, the Super Freak, arrived in 2000. The name came from Moss himself, since fans had called him that since high school.
Jordan Brand brought the shoe back in 2010, but under the name Cover 3. Moss was no longer with the brand then, so his number 84 was replaced with Michael Jordan's 23.
The original Super Freak is also reportedly returning in spring 2027 for $165. This time, it will use the original name. Together, the two pairs make a strong tribute to Moss. We covered an earlier Air Jordan 9 "Super Freak" report that described a different design. These new photos change that story.
