Hollywood Unlocked founder Jason Lee was named Stockton Vice Mayor back in January of 2025. He was elected as the Council Member for District 6, with Mayor Christina Fugazi appointing him as her right-hand man. The City Council unanimously approved the appointment, and all seemed well.
However, according to The Stockton Record, things have not gone so smoothly over the past few months. Lee and Fugazi have butted heads over transparency and financial oversight, among other issues. The two could not seem to find a solution, and with Lee revealing that the Vice Mayor title didn't mean anything to him, it was decided that his role would be stripped.
Interestingly enough, Lee's term as Vice Mayor was set to expire on December 31, 2026, which is just 11 weeks away. Some Council Members felt as though they could have made it work for 11 weeks. In the end, Fugazi and Lee pushed for his title to be removed.
Lee attempted to resign, but his request was denied. Instead, a vote was held, and the council voted 4-2 to remove his title. Lee will remain on the City Council, regardless.

What made all of this more dramatic was Lee's exit from last night's City Council meeting. He had a flight to catch on the East Coast and was seen packing up his things as the vote was held.
While this has become a big story for Stockton's municipal politics, there are obvious connections to the hip-hop world. In addition to being a City Council member, Lee is a media personality known for his interviews with the likes of Chrisean Rock, Dame Dash, Adam22, and many others.
