DJ Akademiks is one of the many commentators weighing in on the new Quavo album, QROMELIFE. It is a project produced by Pharrell, which has been subjected to lots of criticism this week.
In fact, some of the hate towards Quavo and Pharrell has been immense. Some may argue that it is disproportionate to the quality of the album. Yet another example of the internet being a brutal place when they could always just stay quiet.
After all, it's not like all of the people hating have listened to the album. QROMELIFE sold 13K units in the first week and fell outside the Top 100 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
With all of that being said, DJ Akademiks is feeling a bit confused by the hate against Quavo. In fact, during a recent livestream, Akademiks suggested that this is some sort of paid hate campaign.
DJ Akademiks Is Skeptical
“Is this some genuine sh*t or is it just… you know?” Akademiks asked. It's a good question, although it ignores the fact that the internet loves to pile on people during their worst moments.
It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that the internet is going so hard at Quavo right now. The same goes for Pharrell. Fans are already skeptical of this stage of Pharrell's career. Meanwhile, Quavo's solo career hasn't been what fans were hoping for.
Add up all of these factors, and you get the perfect conditions for this kind of hate train. It is unfortunate, but that is just how the internet functions. It's always been like that, and it won't change anytime soon.
