LeBron James broke out the Nike LeBron 24 "Greater China" at the 76ers' open scrimmage on Saturday. About 10,000 fans packed into the Xfinity Mobile Arena to watch his debut.
The pair has a cream mesh upper with cloud embroidery along the forefoot. Bright red laces add a big pop of color. You can see the clouds clearly in the on-court photos.
The shoe also has gold trim and dragon-inspired details. A translucent outsole sits underneath, and "23" branding shows up on the tongue.
It releases October 9th for $190 with the style code IX5105-200. That's only 5 days away. You can read more on the Nike LeBron 24 "Greater China" in our full breakdown.
The scrimmage was a big night in general. LeBron threw down a lob dunk, made sharp passes, and hit a deep three. He wore No. 9 in the scrimmage, since No. 6 is retired in Philadelphia for Julius Erving.
Debuting this pair in a Sixers uniform makes it feel even more special. It also keeps a long tradition alive, since LeBron's China line goes back to 2005.
Nike LeBron 24 "Greater China"
The China line has become a staple of LeBron's yearly rollout. It started in 2005 with a run of just 1,000 pairs of the Zoom LeBron 3. Almost every signature model since then has gotten its own China colorway.
Past pairs have used themes like terracotta warriors and stone lions. Each one pulls from a different piece of Chinese culture. That variety is a big reason collectors keep chasing them.
This one is also a showcase for the LeBron 24's lightweight Kingknit upper. Nike calls it his lightest signature shoe so far. A culturally rooted design on a new material is a strong combo. On the resale side, LeBron's China colorways usually get attention from collectors. A court debut before release only adds to the hype. Don't be surprised if sizes go fast.
Overall it will be interesting to see how many more colorways LeBron breaks out in Philly this season.
