A little compromise has led to “Solar Eclipse” hitting streaming services.

It looks like Drake had to give up some publishing so the fans could eat. According to DJ Akademiks, the official release of Drake’s “Solar Eclipse” ft. Don Toliver, a.k.a. “Choosin’ Texas (Remix)” on Habibti (FOMO), depended on Drake giving up his publishing share to Ella Langley.

“The reason why we’re getting it is literally because the fans have been blowing up, you know, his DMs, you know, there’s fake uploads of the songs constantly, and clearly people like this remix from FOMO and he wanted to get it on streaming,” Ak said. “Apparently, all the publishing goes to the woman on the song. I believe the producer and Ella, so Drake doesn’t even make any money off of this.”

Akademiks Reveals Drake Gave Up Publishing On "Choosin' Texas" Remix

Ak tried to position this as a philanthropic effort from Drake to his fans, and gave Langley a shout-out for clearing the record. “He is giving up a portion or would be portion of the publishing, and it will go to the author,” Ak continued. “So again, the gift of Drizzy just keeps on giving as basically handing–I got to imagine this song is gonna make three-four million dollars extra bread and that’s going all to the authors of the song.”

What’s interesting is that prior to the song’s official release of Habibti (FOMO), fans speculated that there might be some tension between Drake and Ella Langley surrounding her hit song. When Drake re-uploaded the video for “Solar Eclipse” after the FOMO stream, he seemingly removed any footage of Langley that initially appeared in the visual. Although there’s no real explanation for that creative decision, the fact that she cleared the record should indicate that there’s no actual beef.
