Rod Wave has a varied relationship with Louisiana rap. He beefed with one of its icons, but he has a strong friendship with its current leader. After DJ Akademiks took to Twitter to wish for a Rod and NBA YoungBoy joint tour amid Rod's ongoing "Don't Look Down" trek, the Florida artist let fans know he has big ambitions for a potential collaborative tour between them.
"A YB x ROD WAVE tour. Just take my bank account!" Ak wrote. "Matter of fact an album, EP… we need dis!" "I told yb we going stadium," Wave responded in the wee hours of this morning (Sunday, September 27).
This immediately got fans excited, as the two titans of the new generation have shared a lot of collaborative chemistry over the years. Also, they have similarly passionate and loyal fanbases for their niche, and continue to express a lot of respect and admiration for one another.
However, this hypothetical joint stadium tour could be difficult to organize logistically. NBA YoungBoy's no longer living in the United States, although that doesn't automatically rule out an extended visit. If the opportunity presents itself, it would be amazing to see. These days, we don't see as many joint tours with big headlining acts, so it could be a special moment for two dominant forces in 2020s hip-hop.

Also, considering Rod Wave's concert promotion success, this seems like exactly the type of challenge that would take his Mainstay Touring company to greater heights. It already saw a lot of success running not just Rod's own shows, but also the SoFi Stadium concerts by Ye earlier this year. A longer concert series with YB would be an even more impressive achievement, and one that would overjoy fans.
In addition, YoungBoy's successful "MASA" tour and accompanying documentary set up a solid precedent for his ability to generate engagement and buzz. If the only way they want to go is up from their recent successes, teaming up to do so seems exciting.
Nevertheless, we will just have to wait and see if this is a dream that will never come true for die-hards. On the other hand, they could one day get to see their favs on the same stage.
