Shareef O'Neal used New York Fashion Week to tease his latest work at SHAQ Brand. The lineup includes a black and red zip-front skate shoe, a light purple slip-on, and a tan zip-front pair. No release dates or pricing have been confirmed yet.
The black and red pair leans into a bold, high-top skate shape. A zippered front panel replaces traditional lacing, with elephant print detailing running along the outsole. Blue stitching on the tongue nods to SHAQ Brand's signature logo mark.
The purple slip-on takes a much more casual approach. Suede paneling wraps the collar, with oversized black laces used more for styling than actual function. A chunky black logo sits on the lateral side for added contrast.
The tan pair shares that same zip-front design language as the black and red version. Orange stitching breaks up the otherwise neutral colorway. Together, the three pairs show a clear stylistic thread running through Shareef's design work.
Shareef has been credited with several of SHAQ Brand's newer silhouettes since stepping into a creative leadership role. These NYFW pieces continue building out that expanding lineup.
Shareef O’Neal For SHAQ Brand
Shareef officially serves as SHAQ Brand's creative strategist these days. Shaquille O'Neal has said publicly that many of the brand's newest designs come directly from his son. That's a notable shift for a brand originally built entirely around Shaq's own name and image.
Shareef has described the shoes as "Shaqs" but also "Reefs," pointing to how he's blending his father's legacy with his own creative identity. He's also brought design experience from his time co-developing the Reebok Engine A, the brand's first new performance basketball shoe in over a decade.
SHAQ Brand has sold over 470 million pairs of shoes since it launched, built originally around affordability. Shareef's newer styles lean more toward lifestyle and streetwear than that original budget-basketball approach. It's a natural next step for a brand looking to reach a younger audience.
With NYFW behind him, more details on these specific pairs should surface as SHAQ Brand moves toward an official release.
