BigXThaPlug has been a frontrunner in the new wave of hip-hop and country crossing over. The Texas rapper’s rise to fame has been impressive, though it hasn’t happened without a few headaches. That includes some legal troubles that have hovered over him for the past year. Per All Hip Hop, he pleaded guilty to an illegal gun charge stemming from an August 2025 arrest in Dallas. As a result, he received a six-month deferred adjudication sentence.
In addition, they report that he’ll have to surrender his rights to the gun that was uncovered during his arrest. Frankly, it seems like a pretty decent deal overall, as court records indicate that the conviction will be scrubbed clean as long as he completes his sentence without any incidents or violations.
The arrest occurred during a critical time in his career–just as he was scheduled for an album release party. He was pulled over in Dallas after police noticed his vehicle didn’t have a front license plate. However, once they began searching the car, he informed the police that there was a firearm in the vehicle, though the criminal database said that he had affiliations with gangs in Arlington. That alone became an issue since he isn’t legally allowed to possess a gun.
BigXThaPlug's Legal Troubles
Unfortunately for BigXThaPlug, he still has other legal issues to tend to. Last week, he was arrested in Texas after a stop in Allen when he was booked on charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, and illegal possession of a firearm. He was released after being held in Collin County Jail and was later seen performing at the Iowa State Fair the following day.
