It’s been an eventful weekend for Lefty Gunplay following a concert in Springfield, MI, this past weekend. According to TMZ, the California rapper who won a Grammy for Kendrick Lamar’s “tv off” was booked at 8 a.m. on Saturday for a fourth-degree assault charge. However, the details surrounding the alleged assault remain unclear. There aren’t any details surrounding who else may have been involved in the alleged altercation.
Lefty’s performance at Regency Live in Springfield was part of the second leg of the Did This For Me tour. Per the Springfield Citizen, the booking information stated he was on a 24-hour hold and was expected to be released from jail on Sunday morning.
Unfortunately, this also impacted the following show on the tour in Topeka, KS, on Saturday, as he was forced to cancel, the venue announced. However, he confirmed his performance on Sunday, August 30th in Lincoln, NE on Instagram, and his Story revealed that he was getting a haircut in Nebraska. Moreover, Steve Lobel, who currently manages Lefty Gunplay, condemned the negative headlines surrounding the arrest after they got to Nebraska.
“I wish all these media outlets would promote positivity but hey they say all press is good press,” Lobel wrote on his Instagram Story.
Lefty Gunplay Tour Continues
The Did This For Me tour continues in Austin, TX on Tuesday before heading to Hobbs, NM, Lubbock, and Dallas, TX before concluding in Shreveport, LA on September 6th.
It’s been quite the eventful few weeks for Lefty Gunplay outside of his recent run-in with local Springfield police. On Friday, he dropped off a new single titled “Just Another Day.” This follows his appearance on The Game’s surprise album, The Documentary III, on the song “The Part” alongside RJMrLA, JasonMartin, Mark Lux, YG, and Mike & Keys.
