Sunday night in Sacramento, police shot 22-year-old Stephon Clark a reported 20 times and killed him, thinking his phone was a weapon. New video footage has surfaced that shows the tragic incident of police responding to an alleged incident of a man said to be breaking vehicle windows.

The video below shows dark footage of police with their weapons drawn, but no Stephon in sight. Police are heard yelling “show me your hands” followed by “gun, gun, gun," where shots are instantly fired.

“He was at the wrong place at the wrong time in his own backyard?” his grandmother (who he was staying with at the time) Sequita Thompson, told the Sacramento Bee. “C’mon, now, they didn’t have to do that.”

The man said to be breaking windows was described as 6-feet but Sequita tells the publication her grandson was short and not near that height.

“The only thing that I heard was pow, pow, pow, pow, and I got to the ground.” she told the Bee. “I opened that curtain and he was dead. I started screaming.”
