2018 was a huge year for Travis Scott. The rapper released his third studio album Astroworld which was a follow up to 2016's Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight. Astroworld was a commercial and critical success with the album going platinum and songs like "Sicko Mode" finding their way to the top of the Billboard charts. Scott is also nominated for three Grammy's including best rap album (for Astroworld), best rap performance and best rap song (for “Sicko Mode”).
Scott spoke to Billboard about his recent success and how heels about the Grammy's. He specifically mentioned how the Grammy's weren't even on his mind when he was in the studio this year.
"I go in on making music. [Birds] was my second album. At some point I was just hoping to be recognized by The [Recording] Academy," Scott said about his first album. "But I went back in for [Astroworld] and just tried to make good music. [Getting nominated] wasn’t driving me in my mind. It’s just something that kind of like, happened."

The publication also asked Travis about the "Best Rap Album" nominees this year and how the field is more diverse.
"Maybe people are getting more attuned, tapping more into this generation and the youthfulness of music. It’s so diverse and so spread across the U.S., the world and all different types of genres," he explained. "Kids are driving it, so it’s showing what they’re listening to. It’s dope to see a mix of different people get more recognized for their music now."
Scott will also be performing at the Super Bowl on February 3rd in Atlanta.
