Travis Scott's latest album Astroworld has been certified a hit. Fans of La Flame have taken to social media to dub the project a classic, something I believe is too early to tell. We are in the digital age where people are quick to hand out "instant classic" titles, which is an oxymoron within itself. Still, Astroworld is a spectacle to behold, and it will take weeks to fully digest the bangers that have been included on the album.
One issue has caused a small bump in the road for the rollout of Astroworld. Trav was called out for the removal of transgender model Amanda Lepore from his album cover prior to the project being released. Trav's camp claimed that they never even received the original version of the album cover, which was posted online by artist David LaChapelle and Lepore herself. Instead, La Flame posted the album cover his team claimed they received, which was sans Lepore. Now, Trav has released a statement to address the growing controversy.
"Thank you David LaChapelle and Amanda Lepore and everyone that came out to make all the covers and the vision come to life," wrote La Flame in a statement posted to Twitter. "ASTROWORLD IS ABOUT LOVE AND EXPRESSION NOT HATE! This is very important for me to speak up about: Growing up I've been taught to accept everyone, not to cast people away, but bring them in your home! I have nothing but respect for the LGBTQ community. I want to use my voice to make it clear that everyone on this planet is as equal and fucking awesome to the next."
