Wake up to "Freedom Summer."

Translee is back with new material for the summer. His latest clip shot by Karl "KB" Benion complements his album's title track "Freedom Summer." The quality of storytelling produced in this music video latches onto the strength found in Translee's words. It breathes complex meaning into his lyrics, which already bore massive weight.

This is the case in the scene where the rapper is being held to the ground by a police officer. As he struggles with his hands behind his back he raps "Will I live forever/Will I die standing up."

"Freedom Summer" refers to the Mississippi Summer Project, a volunteer program launched in 1964 that was meant to enable the voting registration of African-Americans. The 10-week civil rights project was riddled with violence, arrests, and other injustices.

The Freedom Summer LP dropped today as well. It is Translee's first full-length album since 2016’s M.A.O.T.P. pt. 1. The latest features artists such as Tip, B.o.B., Omar Hardwick.
