In case you missed it, we recently launched a new weekly series called Freestyle Sessions, in which emcees are invited to go in over some in-house production. Our newest installment of the series features Houston icon Trae Tha Truth, who joins the likes of Chaz French, Squidnice, G-Herbo, Zoey Dollaz, and Sonreal as contributors. Trae has been having a hell of a year so far, having previously dropped his underrated mixtape Tha Truth Pt. 3, which featured one of the biggest posse cuts of the year; "I'm On 3.0" features T.I., Dave East, Tee Grizzley, Royce Da 5’9″, Curren$y, D.R.A.M., Snoop DoggFabolousRick RossChamillionaire, G-Eazy, Styles PE-40 and Gary Clark Jr. If that's not a testament to Trae's clout in the game, I don't know what is.

Now, Tha Truth has come through to deliver some fire over an ominous banger from Loa Gaze, who has been killing it on the production thus far. As the beat builds, Trae sets it off, rapping "send the wave, let a n***a slip, bustin' out the bando just like Tip, long-ass clip case a n***a wanna trip." Once the beat enters phase two, Trae kicks his flow into high gear, effortlessly spitting lines like "ridin' through the hood Truth lookin' like a menace, if I catch him talkin' go to work em' like a dentist." His baritone may sound imposing, but the fact is, his flow is one of the smoothest we've seen so far.

If you're feeling this, be sure to check back next Tuesday for the latest installment of our Freestyle Sessions. Have you been following the series? If so, who do you think has killed it the hardest so far? Sound off below, and be sure to support Trae's slept on Tha Truth Pt. 3.

Quotable Lyrics

Send the wave, let a n***a slip,
Bustin' out the bando just like Tip
Long-ass clip case a n***a wanna trip
