Although she hasn't released an album in years, Rihanna has kept herself busy and consistently in the public eye. She's one of the few artists that has a tendency to remain relevant even when she's not musically active. The star has been hard at work in the fashion world, as well as with her numerous acting roles. Her Navy of fans does bother her on the daily about when they can expect some new music, though. She's been rumored to be planning two albums at the same time: one pop and one dancehall. That may not have been confirmed by the artist herself but we do know that R9 is in the works as she previously promised fans that she was in the studio working on her ninth album.
She must understand that her fans really just want to hear her voice on record and figure how she can change the game this time around but she admits she's a little overwhelmed at all the messages she's been receiving. Anti was released in early 2016 and since then, we haven't heard much from the pop superstar. She joked on Instagram that she felt "attacked" with all the public support she's been getting to drop a new body of work, posting a photo of herself escaping a hoard of fans. She wrote, "I feel attacked. ***valley girl who’s never been attacked voice*** R9 chronicles."
There is no current release date for Rihanna's ninth studio album. Considering previous reports, the genre she'll be diving into is also undetermined.
