Swae Lee is teaming up with one of R&B's best-known songstresses.
Both together and individually, the members of hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd have had a very strong run over the past twelve months. With singles like "Black Beatles," "Swang" and now "Perplexing Pegasus," the group has forged a reputation as one of the more dependable hitmaking teams in the game. Separately, both Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee have done okay for themselves too. The former recently revealed that he has a child on the way, although it's not inherently clear who the baby mama is at this time. As for the latter, Lee lent his voice to one of the summer's biggest songs, French Montana's "Unforgettable," and has since previewed even more new music that he's got cooking up in the studio. For those wondering if he's going to have any high-profile features on his next project, fear not - in fact, he looks to have enlisted the vocal services of one of R&B most recognizable diva figures.
Taking to Instagram to share a picture of the two of them in the studio together, Swae Lee recently showcased the fact that he is working with none other than Ashanti, the New York born singer who has accumulated no small amount of hit records to her name throughout her career. There's no indication of what exactly her role will be on one or several new tracks, but her inclusion in the studio proceedings ups Swae Lee's profile and teases what could potentially be a very intriguing partnership in terms of sharing vocal duties on an upcoming song. For his part, the Rae Sremmurd rapper has not divulged any clear release date or tracklist yet for what appears to be a full-length solo undertaking, but his recent success as an artist who managed to crossover into the mainstream with "Unforgettable" certainly makes him someone to keep an eye on.
As for Ashanti, she is best known for her collaborations with the likes of Ja Rule and Fat Joe after being discovered by Irv Gotti in the early part of the 2000's. She also appeared on The Hamilton Mixtape and is rumored to be releasing a new album of her own later on this year.
