Metro didn't mean to incite a Young Thug-Future conflict with his pro-Future comments.

Metro Boomin inadvertently sparked a Twitter spat between Young Thug and Future earlier this week when he discouraged rappers from trying to keep up with Future's rate and quality of musical output. But as it turns out, his comments had nothing to do with Young Thug at all.

"You gotta be crazy if you think I subtweeted Thug," he tweeted Tuesday night. "That's corny. People are allowed to believe what they want though. True or not."

To recap: Metro criticized rappers trying to duplicate Future's strategy of releasing several mixtapes per year, who has had which has been quite successful recently. "Everyday I wake up, new mixtapes are falling out of the sky... I think we all know where the trend came from," Metro wrote.

Young Thug took these general statements as personal attacks, perhaps because he's dropped two Slime Season installments in the past two months and has projects with Migos and Metro himself waiting in the wings. He fired back "Hey @MetroBoomin who u referring to????" and proclaimed himself Michael Jackson to Future's Tito, thus provoking Future, who subsequently entered the fray. Thugger was the main instigator throughout.

Metro Thuggin is on life support, but all is not lost yet.

UPDATE 11/11 5:51 PM ET: Young Thug has responded to Metro's request with an emoji, which the producer subsequently retweeted. What does it all mean though..?
