What's going on over at Disney is the question?

Hours after Netflix pulled the plug on the Daredevil series starring Charlie Cox among others, Disney handed the superhero a lifeline. Public opinion differs on the matter, but of Marvel fans agree that Daredevil's quality was tapering off by Season 3, but assuredly, no one wanted it taken off the airwaves. Disney-owned Marvel wisely produced a statement in the moments that followed the show's cancellation, in sensing they stood the risk of alienating fans if they didn't say something, anything.

In the process of standing by their character, Mr. Murdock, Marvel was able to secure a PR win to go with their loss: by distancing themselves from the decision altogether. Their statement read: “We look forward to more adventures with the Man without Fear in the future,” which if you read into it means next to nothing considering Matt Murdock aka Daredevil, is already pegged for adjoining Marvel projects on Netflix. Their statement read: “We look forward to more adventures with the Man without Fear in the future.”

But maybe there's more to this story than a PR victory or a shred of hope. As you might know, Disney is coming out with its own streaming platform in the not so distant future, and maybe the cancellation and the ensuing message from Marvel are part of a retrieval process. Disney may want to get its hands on all its original content, Marvel-included when it goes public with its new platform. Crazier theories exist in this World.
