MGK is no stranger to method acting.

Machine Gun Kelly has been putting in work behind the mic, but make no mistake - the man respects the theatrical craft. Given that MGK recently portrayed Motley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee, it would appear he engaged in a little bit of method acting to better prepare for the role.

Today, Gunner took to Instagram to show off some of his musicality, taking to the skins for an impromptu jam session. As Nipsey Hussle's "Right Hand 2 God" plays, Kelly channels his inner Travis Barker and lays down a drumline, adding a few stick flourishes for good measure.

While hip-hop is an inherently percussive genre, not many rappers can say they actually get down on the drumkit. Anderson .Paak could count himself among them, and it would appear Machine Gun Kelly is actually worthy of a second look. It's unclear whether he picked up the practice simply to honor Tommy Lee's legacy, or whether his interest in drumming extended well beyond The Dirt. In any case, Gunner is definitely nice with it - do you think he should implement more drums into his upcoming Hotel Diablo?
