Mac Mill rocks the Les Paul for a few finishing touches.

While Mac Miller is one of the game's most layered lyricists, there's one element of his toolkit that often goes underappreciated. The man is a genuine multi-instrumentalist, taking to the guitars, drums, and keyboards with proficiency. Those who have caught the rapper live can attest; it's not uncommon for Mac to "get the Strat," as it were, taking to the strings like a young phenom. Now, with Swimming officially added to Mac Miller's canon, the rapper has taken to IG to commemorate the occasion with a stroll down memory lane.

"This is a photo of me adding the last piece of music to the album," writes Larry Fisherman, looking the part with a tried-and-true fisherman's cap. With a Gibson Les Paul in hand, Mac looks ready to lay down some guitar overdubs, with his fingers positioned for a few licks. Though Mac enlisted a few heavy-hitters like Thundercat & Anderson .Paak to lay down instrumentation, let it be known; the man is no slouch, and he can carry his weight accordingly.

Let it be a lesson to artists aspirant - it never hurts to hone those scales and arpeggios.
