Kehlani is currently on tour with Halsey over on the other side of the pond in Auckland and found time to chop it up with Radio New Zealand. Her rare interview saw the "Honey" singer praise one of her industry mates, SZA, for her successes in her career. “I think what’s so important to me about SZA right now is she is a beautiful, chocolate brown woman, who is like, taking over the planet right,” Kehlani said.
“As much as like, people don’t wanna say and admit that colorism is a thing—it’s extremely a thing. And to see someone of her color and her stature, and looking how she looks, as extremely beautiful and talented as she is, winning, a hundred percent in first, I don’t think anyone can wish for anything more," she added. "That’s beautiful and it’s empowering to every single little girl in America who is of color, and I think that’s just my favorite part. She’s very honest and vulnerable and is not afraid to be that, and stand in all of her truths in every single moment.”
SZA was touched by her sentiment and followed up with a tweet simply calling Kehlani "A living Goddess."
