Over the weekend, Drake's label OVO Sound announced that they've grown their pool of artists.
The news broke in the latest episode of OVO Sound Radio on Apple Music's Beats 1 channel, where host Oliver El-Khatib that Plaza was "the newest member of the OVO Sound family," before playing his EP Shadow at the end of the show.
The signing comes without much warning or buildup of any kind, with Dvsn being the last artist to sign with OVO, which happened back in February of 2016. It demonstrates Drake's commitment to breaking artists who aren't necessarily known internationally and turning them into stars. It's a strategy that has worked so far for names such as Majid Jordan, OB O’Brien and PartyNextDoor.
