Every year, XXL makes a special Spring issue and puts an influential rap artist on its cover. For the 2017 edition, five-month old Asahd and his dad DJ Khaled got the opportunity to make hip hop history.
The magazine met with Asahd and his father in Atlanta to discuss his upcoming album Grateful. Baby boy Asahd worked as executive producer on the album. The cover is simple with the superstar producer holding his infant against a gray backdrop. Both wear matching black and navy tracksuits.
Like last year's cover artist Big Sean, Khaled has been making moves this year. On top of Asahd, he's recruited some of the top names in the game for Grateful including Migos, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, Chance The Rapper and Drake. he hunted down the latter for days to get his vocals. He's already dropped the single "Shining" with Jay Z and Beyonce.
