More than 20 people have been reported injured and at least one dead after a suspect opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The suspect is still at large as police are currently trying to track him down, the Independent reports.
The shooting took place just before 3 PM and after hearing gunfire the school went into an immediate lockdown. "All of a sudden there was a really loud noise... people are crying in the closet," a student told the publication. The exact happenings and the reason for the shooting are still unclear, but the incident has gotten the attention of the Oval Office.
“The President has been made aware of the school shooting in Florida,” Deputy White House Press Secretary Lindsay Walters said to the Miami Herald. “We are monitoring the situation. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected.”
