HBO is smartly giving Issa Rae another Drama series to produce.

It looks like Issa Rae has another HBO series in the works. According to Deadline, the 32-year old multi-talented writer, producer, and actress is developing a new drama for the premium cable network that will be centered around a black family dealing with life in Los Angeles in the ’90s. Bridging the later Reagan Era and early Clinton years, the show will focus on the marriage of Sheryl and Jackson, with the former an envelope bounds-pushing real estate agent and the latter a conflicted LAPD anti-gang task force recruit. The show doesn’t have a name yet or it’s unknown at this time, but we do know that Issa will be executive producing the untitled series, along with The Turner House author Angela Flournoy.

“I’m so thrilled to be working with Angela,” Rae told Deadline. “I was a huge fan of The Turner House and we feel so lucky to bring her beautiful storytelling to HBO,” she added. Meanwhile, Floureny added “Been a fan of @IssaRae since we were LA transplants in NYC a decade ago. Working with her (for @HBO!) on this has been so surreal.”

The upcoming series could be Issa Rae’s second potential hit series, following up Insecure of course. That show follows a modern-day black women around through her everyday life, bringing a relatable aspect to viewership that has allowed it to be renewed for a third season.

In addition to both season 3 of Insecure and this upcoming untitled series though, Issa has also landed her first major movie role alongside Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall, Algee Smith, Lamar Johnson, and Common. The film is titled The Hate U Give, and is based on the Angela Thomas novel of the same name, which follows a protagonist drawn to activism after she witnesses the police shooting of her unarmed friend.

We’ll keep you posted if any more information comes to light moving forward. Congrats to Issa!
