Last week Rep. Frederica Wilson claimed that Donald Trump made insensitive comments to the widow of a fallen soldier. After Army Sgt. La David Johnson passed away in the October 4th killings in Niger, Donald made a call to the former soldier's wife, Myeshia Johnson, where he reportedly said: "he knew what he signed up for, but I guess it still hurt."
Myeshia has now come forward to speak on the record with a live interview on Good Morning America, where she confirms that the President did say those comments, and didn't even remember her husband's name.
"I heard him say, 'Well I guess you know, he knew what he was signing up for, but it still hurts,'" Myeshia says in the interview. "I heard him stumbling on trying to remember my husband's name, and that’s what hurt me the most because if my husband is out here fighting for our country and he risked his life for our country why can’t you remember his name."
Myeshia says the congresswoman was "100 percent correct" with her reports on the call. Despite what Myeshia says of the conversation, Donald is not backing down from his side of the story tweeting:
During her interview, Myeshia gives details on what's been happening since she found out her husband has passed on. She says that she has been barred from seeing her husbands body, or given any information on how he died.
"I need to see him so I will know that that is my husband," she says. “They won’t show me a finger, a hand; I know my husband’s body from head-to-toe and they won’t let me see anything.” All she has seen is his casket, but she says that's not enough.
"I don’t know how he got killed, where he got killed or anything," she says in the interview. "I don’t know that part; they never told me and that’s what I’ve been trying to find out since day one, since October fourth."
