He hasn't even released a full length studio album but he's escalated his public stature to a level that most artists won't reach during their career. He's still unsigned yet, he's won Grammys for his free mixtapes. It marks the first time a mixtape has ever won or even nominated for a Grammy. Today, he received the Grammys in the mail and shared the moment with his daughter.
Chance the Rapper recently received the three Grammy Award trophies he won this year. He opened the awards up with his daughter and shared the whole thing on his Twitter account. In two separate videos, Chance is seen opening up his Grammy's with his daughter, Kensli. While he opens it, she's seen latching onto her father. It's clear she's aware and just as proud of her father's accomplishments despite her young age. In the tweet, he wrote, "I got my Grammys in the mail. Thank you everyone who made this music with me, especially this girl right here." He's previously said the birth of his daughter had a great influence and impact on how the project turned out. He's said in interviews that the birth of his daughter helped shape the way he created Coloring Book. It only made sense that he allowed her to open up the awards with him.
Chance was nominated for seven awards at the Grammys this year, including best rap song, best rap performance, best rap album, best new artist and best rap/sung performance. Among those awards, he took home best rap performance for "No Problems" featuring 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne. He also took home the best rap album award for Coloring Book and also came through with the award for best new artist. Chance's accomplishments that evening wasn't just a big moment for him but marked a monumental moment in the music industry, especially for independent artists.
