Apple Music has reached a major milestone.

Good news for Apple Music has been revealed today via Variety. The music streaming service has announced that their subscriber count has reached 36 million, after last June's reveal of 26 million.

Although this is a step in the right direction, streaming competitor Spotify still leads with more as they have 70 million paying subscribers, after announcing 60 million in July of 2016. A lot of announcements have come by way of Spotify as of late as they revealed that they are testing a new app called Stations that is strictly for playlist curation, boasting an easy to use interface. They also announced that they are giving more credit to industry professionals by showing songwriter and producer credits on each song.

Although the listing is only visible on the desktop view you can "simply right-click on a track and select “Show Credits” from the menu of options to view information on performers, songwriters and producers."

As for Apple Music and its future endeavours, Variety reports that the platform is set to invest $4.2 billion into its own streaming series by 2022. Apple Music also required the rights to Shazam for a reported $400 million.
