Steve Harvey may have some regrets.

Steve Harvey is a TV host and stand-up comedian who is known for speaking his mind and not normally having any regrets after the fact, at least as far as his public perception is concerned. However, as per a new report from The Hill, Harvey may ultimately feel remorseful about his meeting with President Donald Trump in January, right before his inauguration. In fact, someone very close to him advised him to reneg on his rendez-vous with Trump: his wife.

"Here's the crazy thing: I'm supposed to be on a boat for my 60th birthday, so my wife says, 'Steve, just take off [and skip the meeting]. You'll meet with him some other time.' God, I should've listened," Harvey said. The entertainer has been known for playing to both sides of the aisle, interviewing Hillary Clinton during her campaign last year. According to Harvey, it was former President Barack Obama's transition team who helped facilitate a meeting between him and Donald Trump. The two television stars supposedly discussed urban communities, and even brought Ben Carson into the conversation, who was Trump's pick for secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The ugly side of his decision was soon apparent, when Harvey faced a massive amount of backlash for going through with the meeting.

"It was so vicious that it really threw me. I was being called names that I've never been called: Uncle Tom. A coon. A sellout. Because I went to see this man? Which only happened because my business partner got a call from the Obama transition team, who said that the Trump transition team would like to set up a meeting," he said. While there's no telling how the meeting went, in terms of satisfaction from Harvey's end, the comedian clarified that he and Trump have not engaged in any further discussions since that day. With Barack Obama calling out Trump's controversial move to end the DACA program, another chapter in the Donald's troubled reign as Commander in Chief has been written. There's no telling what new lows there are to fall to, but you can bet that Harvey won't be taking any lunch dates with the President anytime soon.
